My Approach

I offer a holistic and integrative approach, where I draw from several different therapies. My knowledge and training in trauma informs my work with clients, and I use techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS) or parts work, mindfulness, and other somatic modalities. I am most trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which is an empirically-supported, relational therapy that combines attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy, and neuroscience.

AEDP emphasizes the undoing of aloneness through harnessing the therapeutic relationship, and embraces the belief that each person has an innate capacity to heal. During our sessions, this translates to a combination of traditional talk therapy and a focus on emotions by gently befriending and moving through them in an environment of safety, acceptance, and support. In this way, my approach is experiential, meaning we attend to what’s happening in the present moment in the mind and body. I’ve found that most profound and healing shifts for clients often occur on an experiential level, beyond what talking alone can do.

For my clients interested in learning nervous system regulation skills for practice inside and even outside of session, I provide mind-body tools including breathing exercises and vagus nerve toning. Having completed Levels 1 and 2 of the brain retraining program, Primal Trust, I also support those who are completing neural retraining programs for chronic illness.
